After the mission of finding volunteering work in Laos had failed and migration inconveniences in Thailand, we were really looking forward to get to Malaysia. For our first longer stop we choose a bamboo farm Tunas Budi, not farm from Lanchang.

I won't waste the words about the town. By itself it's not worth of visiting, but the work on the farm was something completely different. Farm is located on 40 hectares of land which used to be covered with tropical rain forrest. This is a sad fact actually but Adnan, the manager, still try to handle with it ecological, following permacultural trends.

This is the only farm in vicinity that is not monocultural. Even though bamboos are in big majority, Adnan grows also jackfruits, papayas, palm oil trees, orchids... When he sees a turtle on the road, he takes it and brings to the farm. "If chinese find it, they will eat if!" he adds.

In my oppinion, jackfruit is the most delicious fruit in the world. For picking it, Ziva found a way in her own style...

Our help was defined as everything that comes under our hands.

Actually we spent the least time with bamboo :)

But our the greatest achievement was new, bigger terrarium for iguanas. Because iguanas haven't had their names yet they started to call them just Ziva and Ales :D

Adnan was !ore concerned where to take us and how to show us malay culture and hospitality. One saturday we joined muslim marriage. I didn't miss pork. There was plenty of delicious alternatives. But Ziva had to say goodbye to her shorts that day.

Then we went to elephant sanctuary and mini ZOO, where we learned about local species.

Two weeks and a half we spent in a pleasant place with relaxed atmosphere. At the end we left it after half an hour of saying goodbye and taking photos. We have feeling that we left a print on the farm. But Ziva and Ales, I hope they are enjoying new environment.
